In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge form and conventions of real media products.
It is clear to see from our previous blogs the amount of inspiration we got from other media texts. We have only looked at conventions and got inspiration for our own ideas. We must stress that we have not copied, simply researched. All these films and posters have been analysed in this blog before hand and only simply explained here.
Our shot where Charlotte is putting on a wig that is similar to Summers Hair was taken as an idea from this film (but was not copied, it just so happens they have the same coloured hair!)

Here are a few films where we got ideas from...
* Single white female.
This is where the idea of 'stealing someones identity' took place.
We got the character of Charlotte from this film. Our shot where Charlotte is putting on a wig that is similar to Summers Hair was taken as an idea from this film (but was not copied, it just so happens they have the same coloured hair!)

Single White Female
'The Room mate' which is just like modern version of single white female. The girl that is being
copied is a lovable, pretty teen just like Summer in our movie. This is inspiration from the character to create Summer.
Some our our camera shots gave us some ideas such as quick close ups and varying this with wide shots.
Fatal Attraction
We had the original idea of the Psychotic and Obsessed character after watching this film. After seeing some more we link this with a character trying to steal someones identity.
We took some ideas from this film where she has the knife and attempts to kill herself and then the other people around her.
We decided to have a bit of blood in our trailer, to make it more thrilling and scary.
Obsessed
This is a recent film which i have analysed thoroughly in my previous blog. The character similar to Fatal Attraction becomes romantically obsessed. Although our character is Obsessed with Summer she is not really romantically obsessed, however she is psychotic and wants to steal her identity.
The Uninvited And Silence of the Lambs.
We were researching a variety of films to find the right type of 'Psychotic' character, we wanted to find out the best way to portray them. Male or female? Young or Old? We looked at The uninvited where 'Alex' the young teenage girl who plays a psychotic role and 'Hannibal Lector' from 'Silence of the Lambs', an older male who plays a psychotic cannibal.
After much research a decision was made to have the younger female girl, and we came up with 'Charlotte Westbridge'.
All these films and more helped to develop our own trailer.
There is a mood board previous to this which shows a collage of ALL the films we have been researching. And it is a lot! We wanted our trailer to look good an authentic, we therefore researched what a trailer is, what it does to the audience to make it conventional. We found that the ad will set up a situation and leave the viewer wanting more. We did this by showing Summer and Charlottes relationship and the increasing amount of tension between the two.
The trailer should will contain quick action shots, sometimes of the weapons showing the intended audience that it is promising ‘Blood’. This therefore promises audience repetition of known genre pleasures, for example in horror films, the trailer would be what is expected of that particular genre e.g. darkness, suspenseful music, blood, weapons and murder etc.We did this in our montage, quick close ups of blood and weapons promises to the audience that it will be exciting and dangerous, making them want to see it. The shots in darkness also
give the audience known genre pleasures as they will like the suspense this creates. Trailers aim to make the viewer want to see the film, but give little of the plot or story-line away. We tried to do this in our trailer, the audience does not find
out everything and the ending of the film is a mystery.
